Aussie’s bottle leads to African friendship
A MESSAGE in a bottle posing one of life’s big questions has sparked an unlikely friendship between an Australian teacher and a South African.
Australian Anne O’Sullivan was travelling on a cruise ship off the Indonesian island of Komodo in March 2009 when she tossed the bottle overboard.
“We’re sitting in our balcony pondering. Is it better to love or be loved? Your answer will be appreciated. Call us or write to us," the message read.
A year later, the bottle was found more than 8000km away in shallow waters off Mozambique on Africa’s east coast by South African holiday-maker Fiona Marlton.

Faye was promoted from Receptionist of our Property Management department to Marketing Coordinator and quickly matched the high standard of our Award Winning administration team here at the Barry Plant Rowville office.
Responsible for the processing and administration of all new listings and office marketing she controls the high quality marketing image displayed to the public.
When you consider that Barry Plant Rowville holds the highest market share in the Rowville and Lysterfield area it is understandable that her position as the Marketing Coordinator is a high pressure fast paced job. But she is quick, efficient and certainly capable of the large workload. Beyond this, she is pleasant, obliging and happy to help out whenever she can. Considering the high pressure nature of her position this is an admirable and appreciated trait.
Faye coordinates photographers, copywriters, boards, internet advertising, all print media, editorials and the internal administration that goes with it. One of her primary tasks is the creation of our local paper advertising. Being that we are the biggest ‘single office advertiser’ in the Knox Leader this is an enormous task. Faye does her all to ensure that Barry Plant Rowville have the best looking real estate in the area.
In her spare time she trains at the gym, enjoys some retail therapy with friends and loves her little cat Derby.
